Well, it seems we finally have a good code syntax highlighting plugin (Yeah!), so now I can post code in the actual posts without sending everyone to the forums. Not that going to the forums is a bad thing, it’s not I assure you, in fact why don’t you head over there right now and get some chit chat discussions going! Anyway, back to the topic at hand. I am going to start posting more code in posts marked with the category “Codebank” and whatever language it refers to. I think this will be a good place for me to store some code and have it readily available, plus it will be a good way for me to share it with all of you fine folk. If you have some code or scripts that are burning a hole in your disk drive and you are just itching to share them, send it on and I might just add it to the Codebank.

List Of Latest Vulnerabilities
I have setup a page that shows the latest discovered vulnerabilities from SecurityFocus. I figured this would give anyone and everyone convenient access to the latest list of exploits out there so you can keep an eye on what’s going on and hopefully head off any troubles before they start. You can click the link in this article, and you can find the permanent link in the middle column, under Pages at the bottom of the list. Enjoy!

New Script (Source Code) Plugin
I have found a couple more plugins that are supposed to display scripts in posts well. As I am sure you have seen, sometimes I have to put scripts in the forums and link to them because they tend to get mangled and not displayed correctly in posts. I am going to try some of these new plugins and see if we can get to keeping scripts and source code related to a particular post, in that post! Stay tuned …

Network Tools Are Online
I am always thinking about ways that I can not only improve the site here, but also ways that I can provide something useful to visitors. Along those lines, I decided to put some network tools online fo visitors to use. You never know when you might need to ping or trace something from an outside source when troubleshooting a problem. There is also a Whois option, and even one to show the IP address that we see you coming from. That’s useful when trying to configure IP based access somewhere. I’ll be refining the tools and working to add more and improve the existing tools as time moves on. Let me know what you think, if you have any problems with them or suggestions, hit the contact link and drop me a line. Now, go check ‘em out!

Solaris Reference added to the download section
For anyone who found the Solarum Solaris reference handy, and would like a portable copy, I split it into columns and PDF’d it so it would make an easy download. Check it out in the downloads section.

Site Upgrade Complete
In case anyone out there using WordPress didn’t know, there’s a security update available bringing the current version up to 2.2.2. I just completed the upgrade for Solarum, as well as all the other WordPress sites that I host. So far it seems to have been a quick and painless upgrade that any of you affected ought to do in order to plug any potential security holes. Heads up!
